As you have read, Alexander only ruled the Macedonian kingdom for 13 years. However in that same time, he expanded the empire to heights never before seen. The being said, let's dive into why this may have been: Each group is required to answer the questions below using 3 different research tools AT THE MINIMUM. Each group will be required to do research as a group , BUT each individual will be required to make their own posts using the following cue:
You are a soldier in Alexander's army. Alexander has just led you to victory against Persian forces, and King Darius has fled. You expect to head home, but instead you march for the next 9 years building Alexander's empire. Keeping the following three questions in mind, blog about your experience as a soldier in Alexander's army. The battles, the blending of all these new and foreign cultures, all of it has been quite a journey. To do this you will need a good understanding of Alexander's accomplishments, and also the concept of Hellenism.

1. Why/For what reasons is Alexander referred to as being "the Great"?
2. How did the blending of all the cultures that fell under Alexander's control aid or hurt his empire?
3. Compare Alexander to another historical figure who carries the "idea" of being great. THIS DOES NOT MEAN THEY ARE ALSO CALLED "THE GREAT"!! Has time changed the opinion of this person?
Along with making your own post about your journey, you are also required to make 2 separate comments on your fellow "soldiers" (classmates) posts as well. What about their experience stands out to you? Is the same as you? Think!!! Be sure to document and cite all works used at the bottom of your original post in MLA format!!!
Remember that this is a PUBLIC FORUM, so be very aware of what you post and how you post it!!
